Alessandro Masnaghetti publiceert al jaren boeiende artikelen over veelal Italiaanse wijnen in “Enogeo” het wijnblad dat hij sinds 1997 als ‘editore’ zelf uitgeeft. Masnaghetti staat bekend als volstrekt onafhankelijk, zeer deskundig, positief kritisch (met de nodige ironie) en bovendien als een zeer aimabel mens. Hij werkt o.a. samen met collega’s als Francesco Falcone, Giampaolo Gravina, Mauro Erro, Paolo De Cristofaro, Fabio Rizzari en, internationaal Italie-specialist van het eerste uur, Burton Anderson.

Van hem leerde ik o.a. waarom het beter is om eindeloze gala-diners te vermijden en in plaats daarvan iets nuttigs of leuks te doen ;-)

Enkele jaren geleden bracht hij zijn eerste kaarten uit informatie over verschillende wijnregio’s. Al snel volgde een eerste naslagwerk, Barolo MGA, met werkelijk unieke, zeer gedetailleerde gegevens over alle MGA’s/Cru’s. Ook over Barbaresco verscheen een dergelijk boek, net als een tweede over Barolo met heel veel achtergrondinformatie over producenten, oogstjaren etc. etc. Vorig jaar verscheen de Chianti Classico Atlas, eveneens een uitgave die zijn gelijke niet kent.

Omdat de boeken niet of nauwelijks te koop bleken in Nederland (en België), inventariseer ik sinds enkele jaren met een zekere regelmaat de interesse voor zijn boeken en verzorg ik vervolgens bestellingen in Nederland.

Binnenkort verschijnt de geheel herziene versie van zijn boek Barolo Vol.1 en ook deze is via mij te verkrijgen.
