7th edition of the
World Blind Tasting Championships
Saturday 12 October 2019

The World Blind Tasting Championships will be held in the incredible setting of the Château de Chambord, which is celebrating its 500th anniversary this year. Organised by La Revue du vin de France, this competition brings together 28 countries from all over the world. The best tasters will compete for the title and blind taste 12 wines on Saturday 12 October.

For its 7th edition, 28 countries will be participating in The World Blind Tasting Championships organised by La Revue du vin de France. Both the loyal and staple French team, winner in 2014, and Belgium team, crowned in 2013 and 2017, will compete alongside teams from South Africa, Taiwan, Brasil…
Following in the footsteps of Ukraine, Kazakhstan and Romania, Estonia will be taking part for the first time.
Selection events were organised over all five continents by La Revue du vin de France, in order to determin the best tasters to represent their country in the competition.
During this internationally renowned competition, the teams, which include 4 tasters and a coach, will blind taste 12 wines, 6 whites and 6 reds, from all over the world. For every wine, the teammates will have to identify: the main grape variety, the country of production, the vintage and, if possible, the producer.

Friday 11 October
Opening Dinner, with tasting of wines from each participating country, selected by the members of the national team. 

Saturday 12 October
9:00 : Start of the The World Blind Tasting Championships
13:00: Announcement of results
15:30 : Visit of Château de Chambord
19:30 : Gala dinner at Château de Chambord

The World Blind Tasting Championships
The World Blind Tasting Championships are organised by la Revue du vin de France, under the supervision of Philippe de Cantenac and in partnership with the Domaine national de Chambord, Henry Marionnet, Ayala Champagne, Wine&, the  Syndicat de Châteauneuf-du-pape, Bonfilswines, Spiegelau, the cave de Tain, Château Capet Guillier, Valade and Transandine



La Revue du vin de France:
Created in 1927, La Revue du vin de France is the leading reference in Europe for wine enthusiasts. It is a key media outlet, providing information and reviews to help readers select the best wines, from famous crus to new, lesser-known wines.

Château de Chambord:
Included on the first Historical Monuments list in France in 1840, the Domaine national de Chambord became a UNESCO heritage site in 1981. This monument, created by François Ier and Leonardo da Vinci, is considered the largest Renaissance castle in the world. 2019 marks half a millennium since the beginning of its construction. State-owned since 1930, the Domaine national de Chambord became a public industrial and commercial establishment under the supervision of the Ministries of Culture, Agriculture and Ecology in 2005. Since 2010, the chateau is directed by Mr. Jean d’Haussonville.


Château de Chambord’s wines:
In 1519, François Ier introduced a grape variety from Burgundy in Sologne, soon christened Romorantin. In 2015, the Domaine national de Chambord decided to replant the vines, as part of its heritage conservation mission and in a spirit of eco-responsibility. They have partnered with Maison Henry Marionnet that looks after the viticulture and vinification process.
Chambord grows Pinot Noir, Gamay, Sauvignon, Orbois and Romorantin on a 14 hectare fenced plot. The estate produces 3 cuvées. Both a cuvée of white wine and of red wine have been created to celebrate Chambord’s 500th anniversary. These are natural wines, without the addition of sulphites or artificial yeasts. In the future, 60,000 bottles will be produced through organic-certified farming.
